Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako have arrived in the United Kingdom for a visit hosted by King Charles III.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), this is the couple's second overseas visit since Naruhito ascended the throne in 2019.
The Emperor and Empress will begin their visit from Sunday to Monday with private engagements before starting the official program on Tuesday, which will last for three days.
The highlight of the visit will be the state banquet at Buckingham Palace, which has sparked speculation about the possible attendance of Princess Kate, the wife of heir to the throne, Prince William.
Kate, who is being treated for cancer, made her first public appearance in six months last week during the celebrations for King Charles III's birthday.
