Galala University (GU) received the Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, Fumio Iwai, during an official visit.
The visit highlighted the university’s Peace Memorial Center, established in cooperation with Hiroshima University as part of an ongoing academic partnership between the two institutions.
It also featured a ceremony for the handover of 172 books donated by the Nippon Foundation to support the academic library and promote cultural and knowledge exchange between Egypt and Japan.
During the visit, the Japanese Ambassador toured the university's facilities, exploring the academic and research capabilities provided to its students.
Moreover, he praised the university's modern educational environment, which fosters creativity and innovation.
Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawi, President of Galala University, emphasized that the Japanese Ambassador's visit marks a significant milestone in the university's international cooperation efforts and reflects the depth of academic and cultural relations between Egypt and Japan.
He also noted that the university prioritizes building strategic partnerships with prestigious international universities and institutions to prepare globally competitive graduates.
"We are proud of our partnership with Hiroshima University, which resulted in the establishment of the Peace Memorial Center on campus to serve as a platform for promoting the values of peace, tolerance, and intercultural dialogue," the University President added. "Furthermore, the Nippon Foundation's donation of this valuable book collection is a significant scholarly and cultural addition that supports the educational and research process, enhancing our students' access to global knowledge and experiences."
For his part, Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, Fumio Iwai, expressed his delight during his first visit to Galala University, statin, "I came today to participate in the donation ceremony of 172 books provided by the Nippon Foundation. I am also pleased to see the Peace Memorial Center, established in cooperation with Hiroshima University, which shares an outstanding partnership with Galala University."
The Ambassador added, "The first thing that caught my attention was the spacious and serene campus, which provides an ideal environment for studying and learning. Although the university was established in 2020, it has already succeeded in graduating cohorts of students who play vital roles in society. I look forward to seeing more Galala University graduates take on leadership roles that contribute to shaping the future of Egypt."
