NOKE Masaki, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt, awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Prof. Dr.Isam Hamza, Dean, Liberal Arts, and Culture Center (LACC), Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology(E-JUST), on the occasion of the Ambassador’s visit to E-JUST on November 2.
Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to inpiduals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas.
Ambassador Noke extended sincere appreciation to Dr. Hamza for his great contribution to the development of Japanese studies and the promotion of Japanese culture in Egypt for more than 40 years. It was highlighted that he was a very active head of the Japanese Language and Literature Department, Faculty of Art, Cairo University, which is the first department of Japanese language in the Middle East, as well as Dean of Faculty of Foreign languages and Translation, Misr University for Science and Technology. He also played a key role in promoting bilateral academic relations as secretary-general of the Japanese Universities Graduates and Researchers Association in Egypt for more than 10 years.
Dr. Hamzais currently Dean of LACC at the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology(E-JUST) which was established and has been operating with the support of Japan. His works on education of Japanese language, promotion of Japanese culture, and deepening of academic exchange with Japanese research institutions are highly appreciated in both Egypt and Japan.
Dr. Hamzaexpressed his gratitude for the Commendation, emphasizing his eagerness to continue working to expand cooperation between the two countries in the academic field by further promoting Japanese Studies in Egypt.
