Japan Imposes Sanctions on 17 More Russians

Japan imposed sanctions on another 17 Russian citizens, bringing the total number of targeted sanctions due to the Russian attack on Ukraine to 61.

"Japan has imposed sanctions on 17 Russian citizens, freezing their assets in Japan, and banning the transfer of funds to these citizens, including Gennady Zyuganov, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, and businessman Viktor Vekselberg," the Japanese Ministry of Finance said, in a statement carried by The Japan Times, on Tuesday.

Hirokazu Matsuno, the Chief Cabinet Secretary reported that Japan will cooperate with other group of seven nations and other international community to respond appropriately in case of further sanctions.

Japan has previously imposed sanctions on Russian Central Bank, seven private banks, and Russian and Belarusian inpidual groups for their support of Russia's attack on Ukraine.
