Japan has canceled dozens of flights and suspended several rail services on Sunday in anticipation of the arrival of Tropical Storm Maria, which is expected to hit the country tomorrow.
According to Japan’s public broadcaster NHK, the storm is set to impact the northeastern regions of the country.
Authorities have advised those planning to travel to or from the affected areas to closely monitor the latest official warnings and travel updates.
The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts that Tropical Storm Maria will bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
The agency also warned of an increased risk of natural disasters, including flooding and landslides, particularly in low-lying areas.
