Jaguar Halts Car Shipments to US Due to Trump's Tariffs

Jaguar Land Rover has announced it will stop shipping vehicles manufactured in the UK to the United States for a month, in an effort to reduce the financial burden of the 25% tariff imposed by former President Donald Trump.

According to *The Times*, the luxury carmaker, owned by India's Tata Motors, did not respond to requests for comment on the matter.

This temporary halt in shipments raises concerns over the impact of the tariffs on the UK’s automotive industry, which employs around 200,000 people directly.

The United States remains the second-largest importer of British cars after the European Union, accounting for 20% of total exports, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Jaguar Land Rover, one of the UK’s largest car manufacturers, sells approximately 400,000 vehicles annually, including models such as the Range Rover Sport and Defender. Exports to the US make up nearly a quarter of these sales.

The US tariffs on imported cars and light trucks came into effect on April 3, marking a significant challenge for British automakers. Just days earlier, President Trump announced additional tariffs on goods from around the world, further disrupting global trade.

*The Times* also speculated that Jaguar Land Rover might have a two-month stockpile of vehicles in the US that will not be subject to the new tariffs.
