Italy has called on its citizens to leave Iran and exercise extreme caution across the Middle East, citing ongoing security instability in the region.
In a statement released Friday, Italy’s Foreign Ministry urged Italians currently in Iran for tourism or non-essential reasons to depart as soon as possible. The ministry also advised against travel to Iraq and Lebanon, warning of heightened regional risks.
Italian nationals in Israel were instructed to remain on high alert and take maximum precautionary measures as geopolitical tensions continue to escalate.
The advisory comes as several governments issue similar warnings in recent days. The United Kingdom announced Friday that it had temporarily withdrawn its staff from Iran and closed its embassy due to rising security concerns.
Meanwhile, the United States is increasing its military presence across the Middle East amid the possibility of military action targeting Iran. The developments come as diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear program continue, with little sign of meaningful progress.
