The government of Italy has expressed readiness to help train police forces in Gaza and other Palestinian areas, as part of Rome’s broader effort to contribute to Middle East stability.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Monday that Italy is prepared to support the development of a new police force in Gaza and assist in training Palestinian security personnel.
Tajani made the remarks during a press conference in Rome, underscoring Italy’s willingness to play a constructive role in post conflict stabilization and institutional rebuilding efforts.
He also confirmed that Italy is ready to participate as an observer in the Peace Council initiative launched by US President Donald Trump. Rome has received an invitation to attend a council meeting scheduled this week in Washington.
Italy’s proposal signals growing European engagement in Gaza reconstruction and security sector reform, as international actors explore frameworks aimed at supporting governance, civilian protection and long-term regional stability.
