In a recent development, Italy has announced its readiness to provide humanitarian support to those affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The announcement from the Chigi Palace, the official residence of the Italian Prime Minister, highlighted the redeployment of its multipurpose patrol vessel, 'Thaon Di Revel', stationed precautiously in Cyprus in recent days, to swiftly reach waters off Israel and Gaza.
This vessel is prepped to receive humanitarian materials flowing from the United Nations' logistics base in Brindisi, Cyprus, transported via Italian air carriers, along with additional supplies provided by the Italian Red Cross.
The government's statement further pointed out the presence of two multi-tasking frigates of the Italian navy in the region, with an amphibious ship set to arrive for possible humanitarian evacuations and to transport more essential materials, as per Italy's 'Decod 39' portal.
The activities, directed by the Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, are being coordinated by the Higher Operational Command of the Joint Forces, ensuring a streamlined operation in these critical times.
The eastern Mediterranean region already sees active task forces from the United States, France, and the United Kingdom.
Washington has deployed two aircraft carriers, the 'USS Gerald R. Ford' and the 'USS Dwight D. Eisenhower', headed towards the Arabian Gulf.
Meanwhile, last Thursday, the French assault ship 'Tonnerre' set sail towards the eastern Mediterranean.
