Italy's COVID-19 Situation Worsened, Records 500 New Deaths

Italy has reported on Thursday more than 17,000 new COVID-19 infections, in addition to new 500 deaths by the virus.

The number of today's infections reached 17221, comparing to 13708 on Wednesday amid the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic in the state.

It is worthy to mention that the number of daily deaths has slightly dropped today.

3, 717, 602 is the total number of COVID-19 infections in Italy since the start of the Coronavirus including 544,330 deaths.

The state started on Saturday a three-day lockdown amid Easter to control the unstoppable rise of the COVID-19 infections.

All kinds of unnecessary movements were prohibited, in addition, all kinds of outdoor gatherings acts were banned.

However, families were allowed to host two adults for family Easter dinners. Prayers held at the churches, but people were asked to attend services in their own regions. Pope Francis delivered his speech in an empty square of St. Peter.
