Italian FM: Palestinian President to Visit Rome on Nov.7

​Italian Foreign Minister (FM) Antonio Tajani announced on Thursday that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Rome on November 7th.

​Speaking before the Chamber of Deputies, according to the Italian news agency "ANSA," Tajani stated, "On November 7th, we will welcome the President of the Palestinian Authority in Rome to continue dialogue and joint work to strengthen the Palestinian Authority, with a focus on reconstruction."

​He added, "The government will continue to work with steadfastness and determination for peace in Gaza and throughout the Middle East, supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state," affirming that "we have always been supporters of a two-state solution... Italy strongly supports the Palestinian people's dream of establishing their independent state."

​Moreover, Italian FM stressed that "the government is ready to announce the recognition of the state of Palestine, provided that fundamental conditions are met; the most important of which are: the release of all hostages, the disarmament of the Hamas movement, and its exclusion from participating in the political and governmental process."
