Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that Italy’s recognition of the State of Palestine is closer following the release of the remaining Israeli hostages by the Palestinian group Hamas.
"Recognition of the State of Palestine, once the conditions set by Parliament are met, is now closer," Tajani said in a speech before the Italian Chamber of Deputies, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.
