Italian Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, announced that he held phone consultations with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, emphasizing the urgent need to accelerate reaching an agreement.
Speaking at an event in the Italian city of Pistoia, Tajani expressed his hope that negotiations would continue and that the proposals regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would be accepted.
The Italian FM also confirmed Rome's readiness to contribute to mine-clearing operations in the Strait of Hormuz through naval intervention. He clarified, however, that such action is contingent upon a formal agreement being reached between the two parties, stressing that dialogue with both the Iranians and Americans remains ongoing.
