The Italian ambassador to Egypt Michele Quaroni underlined the need to shed light on the negative effects of illegal immigration, as well as ways to combat and confront this phenomenon.
Italian ambassador remarks came during, a workshop to enhance the capacities of media professionals and journalists in the field of combating migrant smuggling and human trafficking.
Moreover, the Italian diplomat stressed that Egypt has played a leading role in combating illegal immigration and succeeded in eliminating it in 2016.
The workshop, organized by the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration, was attended by Ambassador Christian Berger, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, Laurent De Bok, Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office in Egypt.
The training focuses on various topics, including, the efforts of the National Committee and its role in combating and preventing the smuggling of migrants, in addition to the difference between human trafficking and irregular migration.
