Issa Reviews Government's Policy on Enhancing Tourism in Egypt

Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, recently participated in a plenary session of the Senate to discuss the government's policy on enhancing tourism in Egypt.

The session was attended by Counselor Alaa El-Din Fouad, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, and was chaired by Counselor Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek, Speaker of the Senate.

During the session, Issa shared the challenges facing the tourism industry in Egypt and the national strategy for tourism development launched in November 2022.

"The strategy aims to provide greater access to Egyptian tourist destinations, double the number of airline seats coming to Egypt, improve the tourism investment climate, and increase the number of hotel rooms in the country," the minister said.

Issa also emphasized the importance of expanding hotel investments in Egypt, increasing the number of hotel rooms, and stimulating the private sector to pump new investments to accommodate 30 million tourists by 2028.

In the same connection, he highlighted the recent package of hotel investment incentives announced during the Cabinet meeting, which is being finalized in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and will be sent to Egyptian banks for implementation in the coming days.

Other attendees from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities included Professor Ghada Shalabi, Deputy Minister for Tourism Affairs, and Dr. Elham Fouda, Director-General of Political Communication and Parliamentary Affairs. The session also discussed the mechanisms for preserving the environment and cultural heritage.
