The Israeli official broadcasting authority reported, Thursday that the Public Diplomacy Minister in Netanyahu’s government, Galit Distel Atbaryan, had resigned from her position.
On Thursday evening, Atbaryan announced her resignation from her position, due to the current government’s marginalization of her powers.
The Directorate of Public Diplomacy in the Prime Minister's Office decided to appoint the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs to be responsible for coordinating Israel's wartime public diplomacy alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and so the minister see that its a 'waste of resources to double to powers'.
In a lengthy social media post, Atbaryan explained that following Hamas’s brutal assault on southern Israel on Saturday, the Public Diplomacy Directorate within the Prime Minister’s Office decided to appoint the Diaspora Affairs Ministry as responsible for coordinating Israel’s war-time public diplomacy alongside the Foreign Ministry.
The Diaspora Affairs Ministry accordingly had more resources, manpower and authorities than her office, and therefore she said that she 'cannot find at this moment any justification for this doubling of powers as her office was emptied of the authority it was originally given.'
Atbaryan's resignation comes on the sixth day of Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood" launched by the "Al-Qassam Brigades", the military wing of the Hamas movement, on Saturday, October 7.
Today, Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a “statement declaring war” before the Knesset General Assembly, where they then voted to grant the “emergency government” confidence for the duration of the war.
During the session, the Knesset approved the "emergency government", which was joined by the "State Camp" party, led by the Minister of Defense and former Army Chief of Staff Benny Gantz, former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot and former Minister Gideon Sa'ar.
