Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced early this morning that Israeli airstrikes killed 55 people and injured 160 others, following the declaration of a ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel.
Bashir Khodr, Governor of Baalbek-Hermel in eastern Lebanon, reported, "Tuesday's 33 airstrikes on Baalbek resulted in 33 deaths, 12 missing, and 40 injuries. Efforts to recover victims from the rubble are ongoing."
The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated that the total death toll from Israeli attacks since the start of the conflict has reached 3,823, with 15,859 injured as of Monday.
On Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple areas, including the towns of Kfardan and Majdaloun near Baalbek in eastern Lebanon. Other strikes hit Ali Al-Nahri in central Beqaa, the Kassar Za'atar and Al-Hamza neighborhoods in Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, and the Nuweiri area in Beirut. Additionally, an airstrike targeted the Amanah Bridge in Wadi Khaled, a key border crossing between Lebanon and Syria.
U.S. President Joe Biden announced earlier on Tuesday that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a ceasefire in what has been described as the bloodiest conflict between the two parties in years.
The announcement followed a televised address by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who confirmed the Israeli Security Cabinet’s approval of the ceasefire agreement.
