Israeli soldiers kill each other because of nightmares and mental illness

An Israeli soldier who recently returned from fighting in Gaza shot his friend in Tel Aviv; Which led to his death, according to what was reported by Israeli Channel 12.

According to the Israeli channel, the soldier killed his friend inside an apartment, indicating that the background was criminal and that the killer and the dead were both 25 years old, without providing further details.

In a similar incident several weeks ago, an Israeli soldier who was returning from fighting in Gaza opened fire on his comrades in a room after waking up from a “nightmare.” 

The occupation army decided at that time not to investigate the soldier who opened fire at this stage, due to his health condition.

Occupation army data indicate that 17% of Israeli soldiers are killed either by friendly fire, or during incidents on the battlefield.

It is noteworthy that Israeli media indicated in recent months that thousands of Israeli soldiers who were discharged from service in the war on Gaza are suffering from post-war shock.

Last month, the Israeli Walla website reported that the number of Israeli soldiers who suffered from psychological illnesses had risen to 9,000 soldiers.

The Israeli occupation army medical corps indicated, in a statement, that a quarter of those who were receiving treatment for mental illness or suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder would not return to war.
