Israeli Radio said, citing Egyptian sources, that the Red Cross received the Israeli prisoners on their way to the Egyptian side through the Rafah land crossing point, and that the released Israelis will return to Israel from the Kerem Shalom crossing.
A high-ranking Egyptian source told Russia Today's correspondent in Cairo that the Israeli prisoners have now arrived on the Egyptian side of the Rafah land crossing.
The head of the State Information Service, Diaa Rashwan, announced that the Egyptian authorities are now preparing at the Rafah crossing to receive the prisoners released by the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip to transfer them to the Israeli side.
Rashwan explained that Egypt will hand over 25 prisoners from Gaza, including 12 Thai citizens and 13 women and children from Israel.
CNN reported that Israeli officials confirmed that the Israeli prisoners had been handed over to the Red Cross.
Hamas announced on Thursday evening that it had reached an agreement with Israel to release 50 Israelis in exchange for a four-day cessation of fighting, Tel Aviv’s release of 150 Palestinian women and children in Israeli prisons, and an increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza.
