Israeli authorities have initiated a criminal investigation into Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in connection with allegations of witness intimidation and interference in ongoing corruption cases involving her husband.

The investigation was confirmed by the Times of Israel, which reported that the Israeli police launched the probe following an inquiry by opposition lawmaker Naama Lazimi.

The investigation stems from claims that Sara Netanyahu attempted to pressure a witness involved in one of the cases against her husband.

According to Channel 12 News, the prime minister’s wife allegedly instructed one of her husband's aides to orchestrate protests aimed at intimidating the witness.

On January 27, 2025, a Tel Aviv court resumed hearings regarding three high-profile cases against Prime Minister Netanyahu, which involve charges of bribery, fraud, and abuse of public trust. This marks the first time in Israeli history that a sitting prime minister has been compelled to testify in court.

The charges against Netanyahu date back to November 21, 2019, when Israel's Attorney General announced the decision to charge him with multiple offenses.

These charges were formally referred to the Jerusalem District Court in January 2020, though hearings are currently being held at the Tel Aviv District Court, which is equipped with an underground shelter due to security concerns.

Netanyahu has consistently denied all accusations of wrongdoing, maintaining his innocence as the legal proceedings continue.
