Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett left Tel Aviv on Sunday, heading to UAE in a historic visit, since formalising relations last year.
“I’m happy to be taking off for a historic visit, the first of its kind, to the United Arab Emirates,” Bennett told reporters at Ben-Gurion Airport.
"The relations between the two countries are excellent and extensive, and we must continue to nurture and strengthen them and build a warm peace between the two peoples," Israeli PM added.
Last July, Israeli Foreign Minister (FM) Yair Lapid announced on Sunday the appointment of Amir Haik, as Israel’s new Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), replacing Eitan Na’eh who had been the acting envoy.
In June, Lapid officially inaugurated Israel’s embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It is worth mentioing that, the UAE along with Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco moved toward normal ties with Israel under a U.S.-sponsored initiative dubbed the "Abraham Accords".
