Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid criticized National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir after he celebrated with champagne bottles following the passage of a bill authorizing the execution of Palestinian prisoners, despite the deaths of four Israeli soldiers.
Lapid wrote on social media: “Four Israeli soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon last night. Shortly after the incident, Ben-Gvir tried to open a bottle of champagne in the Knesset. He is the National Security Minister, he knew about the incident, he knew there were casualties. We all knew. But he opened a bottle of champagne.”
For its part, the Israeli army announced the deaths of four of its soldiers in southern Lebanon, bringing the total number of Israeli fatalities since the resumption of hostilities with Hezbollah on March 2nd to ten.
