Israeli occupation forces stormed the towns of Ma'ariya and Al-Arda in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside on Thursday, setting up several checkpoints and obstructing the movement of residents.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted the mayor of Ma'ariya and Abdeen, Muwaffaq Mahmoud, as saying: "The occupation forces stormed the area at dawn with several military vehicles and positioned themselves at the eastern entrance to the town of Ma'ariya, near the water well. They searched public and private cars and vehicles, continuing these procedures until 7:00 AM."
He added: "The occupation forces later moved to other locations at the entrance to the village of Al-Arda, between the towns of Ma'ariya and Abdeen, where they also set up temporary checkpoints amidst strict search procedures. Cars were stopped at intervals of 50 to 60 meters, and no vehicle was allowed to proceed before the search was completed, causing significant traffic congestion and obstruction."
