Yediot Aharonot", an Israeli Hebrew and English-spoken daily, indicated that the media in Israel remained silent on the results of the American elections, which showed the victory of the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden.
The newspaper stated that "there has been no official reaction so far from Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not even a congratulation to Biden, despite the fact that a number of countries across the world have begun to send congratulatory telegrams to Joe Biden."
On the other hand, Israel's Channel 12 News reported on Saturday evening that Netanyahu would not congratulate Democratic candidate Joe Biden for winning the US elections.
The Hebrew channel added that Netanyahu will wait until the election results are officially announced.
Just two weeks ago, Joe Biden was the stuff of a joke that US President Donald Trump gave during a conversation with Netanyahu.
Trump referred to a peace initiative in the Middle East during a phone call with his closest ally outside the United States, asking Netanyahu sarcastically, "Do you think that the" sleepy atmosphere "could have concluded this agreement ?!
Netanyahu protested, apparently in anticipation of Biden winning the US presidential election.
There was no immediate comment from Netanyahu after Biden’s victory was announced.
A picture of the Israeli Prime Minister and Trump is still posted at the top of Netanyahu’s Facebook page, but Israeli Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn, a member of the ruling coalition in Israel and of the centrist Blue and White party, hastened to congratulate Biden.
He tweeted that his party extend congratulations to the US President-elect, Joe Biden!"
It is worth noting that Biden pledged to re-participate the United States in the nuclear agreement with Iran, and is likely to express his opposition to the Israeli settlement in the occupied lands that the Palestinians claim to be part of their state.
