Israeli Foreign Minister (FM) Gideon Sa’ar stated that Israel is interested in reaching a "deal" and is working toward achieving it, while waiting to see if Hamas shares the same interest.
This statement came during his meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who is currently visiting Israel, according to the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post.
In a separate context, the head of intelligence for the IDF Gaza Division said that infiltration by Hamas operatives, similar to the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation on October 7, 2023, remains possible, albeit with low probability.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that the division commander explained, while presenting potential threat scenarios, that Hamas retains the capability to attack outposts.
He acknowledged the difficulty of denying such capabilities, noting that there are now three divisions within Gaza.
The IDF has deployed forces more extensively in settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip than it did on October 7, and Hamas has been severely weakened across the Gaza Strip.
