A total of 37 reservist pilots out of 40 members of an elite unit in the Israel Air Force (IAF) have announced that they will miss a scheduled training this week in protest of the government's judicial reform.

The pilots said they would only return to regular training if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government halted its attempts to push the controversial reform package to lawmakers' approval.

The legislation would give the government more power to choose Supreme Court justices, and would deny the court's right to overturn any amendments to the so-called Basic Laws.

In the past few weeks a growing number of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reservists threatened to boycott military service unless the reform is taken off the table
