On Friday, an Israeli diplomat in the Israeli embassy in Beijing was attacked by a knifeman, media reports highlighted.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “An Israeli employee of the Israeli embassy in Beijing was attacked today,” adding that the attack didn't take place at the embassy compound.
A video was shared by media outlets showing a man stabbing the diplomate.
The ministry added in the statement: “The employee is being treated at a hospital and is in stable condition."
“The motive for the assault is being looked into.”
US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns said that news was shocking, offering his “full support” to the Israeli embassy and community in China.
Burns added in his statement: “We are shocked by today’s attack on an Israeli diplomat in Beijing."
