The Israeli forces announced, on Sunday, bombing of Hamas locations in Gaza with helicopters and tanks, in response to rockets fired Saturday night from the Gaza Strip in Ashkelon, southern Israel.
“The Israeli military struck Hamas targets inside the Strip in retaliation, hitting an underground facility and military positions,” according to an army statement. “The Iron Dome anti-missile defense system was activated to intercept the rockets “in accordance with our procedures.”
Warplanes and military helicopters raided agricultural land in the vicinity of the airport area in the southern city of Rafah, with at least one missile, according to Palestinian media.
The Israeli artillery targeted my observation point belonging to the field police, east of Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City, and the second in Beit Lahia town, in the northern Gaza Strip.
Earlier, the defense forces announced that two rockets were fired from Gaza at central and southern Israel.
“2 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel earlier tonight. In response, our forces just struck Hamas underground infrastructure & military posts in Gaza,” Israel Defense Forces stated on Twitter. “The IDF is conducting an ongoing situational assessment & remains prepared to operate against any terror activity.”

They also mentioned that one of the rockets triggered sirens in the southern city of Ashdod and throughout the Shfela region of central Israel, while the other fell outside of Ashdod city limits and set off no alarms.
“The rocket sirens sent thousands rushing for shelter,” as residents of cities and towns south of Tel Aviv reported hearing powerful explosions.
