The Israeli army reported on Wednesday that four soldiers were killed in combat in southern Gaza. Additionally, three soldiers were severely wounded, and two others were moderately wounded in the same incident.
The army did not provide details about the circumstances, but Israeli media mentioned that the soldiers were killed by a hidden bomb that exploded inside a building.
One of the four soldiers, Staff Sgt. Agam Naim, an army paramedic, was the first female soldier to be killed in combat in Gaza, according to Israeli media.
Despite months of heavy Israeli bombardment and ground operations that have destroyed vast areas and displaced most of the population, Hamas and other armed groups remain active across the territory.
Israel has reported that 346 of its soldiers have been killed since the start of ground operations last October.
