Houthi media reported that the city of Hodeidah witnessed a series of Israeli airstrikes following a Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv, Israel.
Israeli media indicated that the strikes were carried out by F-15 fighter jets. Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, citing a senior American official, confirmed that Israel conducted the attack in Yemen.
Sources from Sky News Arabia reported that eyewitnesses in the Israeli city of Eilat saw Israeli fighter jets taking off from Nevatim Airbase in the Negev towards the Red Sea approximately two hours before the airstrikes.
The airstrikes on Hodeidah come a day after the Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv.
Israeli Channel 12 revealed that members of the Israeli government were summoned and notified 45 minutes before the attack on Hodeidah, and the Cabinet approved the attack plans.
Axios quoted an Israeli official as saying, "The attack on Yemen is purely an Israeli operation."
The official added that the port of Hodeidah, which has been granted immunity due to the arrival of humanitarian aid, mostly benefits the Houthis rather than Yemeni civilians.
The official stated, "The port of Hodeidah is a terrorist infrastructure and a legitimate military target used by the Houthis to receive weapons."
The website disclosed that the Israeli Defense Minister spoke to his American counterpart on Friday, informing him that Israel was likely to respond to the Houthi attack on Tel Aviv.
