In the early hours of Sunday, Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike targeting the reception and emergency departments of Al-Ahli Arab Hospital (also known as the Baptist Hospital) in Gaza City. The attack resulted in significant damage, rendering the hospital non-operational and compelling patients and medical staff to evacuate the premises.

According to reports from Palestinian media, two missiles struck the hospital's reception area, causing extensive destruction and igniting fires in multiple sections, including the laboratory and pharmacy. Prior to the strike, Israeli forces had issued warnings, prompting the evacuation of the facility.

The Government Media Office in Gaza condemned the bombing, stating that Israel has deliberately targeted 34 hospitals, effectively dismantling the region's healthcare infrastructure.

Hamas labeled the attack a "war crime," accusing the Israeli military of committing atrocities under U.S. protection.

Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, administered by the Anglican Church, is among the oldest medical facilities in Gaza, established in 1882. It has been a critical healthcare provider, especially after the destruction of other major hospitals in the region.

This incident marks the second time the hospital has been targeted; a previous strike in October 2023 resulted in the deaths of 471 individuals.
