Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has announced that Israel will withdraw from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), accusing the body of spreading antisemitism and disproportionately targeting Israel.

In a statement on Wednesday, Sa’ar welcomed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to exit the UNHRC and confirmed that Israel would follow suit, choosing not to participate in the council's activities.

Sa’ar criticized the UNHRC for shielding human rights violators, allowing them to evade accountability, while disproportionately focusing on demonizing Israel, which he described as the only democracy in the Middle East.

He added that the council’s bias was evident in the fact that over 100 resolutions have been passed against Israel, representing more than 20% of the council’s total resolutions.

He emphasized that Israel will no longer tolerate such discrimination.

Israel’s decision follows Trump’s executive order to withdraw the United States from the UNHRC and halt funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which provides aid to Palestinian refugees.
