Israeli authorities have issued a military order to uproot thousands of trees from lands belonging to two Palestinian villages west of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, according to reports from the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

The order mandates the removal of trees from areas in Ras Karkar and Kafr Ni'ma, specifically from the western face of Jabal al-Risan and al-‘Aurid, for what Israel described as military purposes. The targeted area spans around 15 dunams (about 3.7 acres).

Local Palestinian officials reported that Israeli settlers also ploughed vast tracts of agricultural land belonging to residents of the southern West Bank town of Idna, allegedly in preparation for taking control of it.

Jaber Tmeizi, the mayor of Idna, stated that settlers ploughed hundreds of acres of farmland owned by the town’s residents, signaling an imminent attempt to seize the land.

He added that dozens of Palestinians arrived at the site to confront the settlers but were forcibly removed by Israeli forces, who used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse them.
