Israel has informed Washington that it may soon launch a limited ground operation to eradicate Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon. The operation could commence as early as today.
According to US media, Israel has pledged to continue its conflict with Hezbollah following the elimination of its secretary-general, Hassan Nasrallah, and other high-ranking officials in an airstrike in Beirut on Friday. Reports suggest that Israel is considering an invasion.
The ongoing violence has caused widespread displacement, with up to one million people forced from their homes in Lebanon. More than 1,000 people have been killed in Israel's recent aerial campaign, prompting around 100,000 individuals to seek refuge in war-torn Syria. The UNHCR reports that makeshift shelters in the Syrian capital are severely overcrowded.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant assured troops near the Lebanese border that Israel will utilize all available resources to facilitate the return of approximately 60,000 Israelis displaced by nearly a year of border clashes.
In a separate development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to the Iranian regime, vowing retaliation for attacks on Hezbollah. He also addressed the people of Iran directly through social media, expressing solidarity and predicting that Iran will soon be free from oppression.
