The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it will pursue and target anyone involved in selecting a successor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, as tensions between Israel and Iran continue to escalate.

In a series of statements, the Israeli military warned that it would “continue to pursue every successor to Khamenei,” signaling that individuals seen as potential replacements for the Iranian leader could be targeted.

The IDF also said it would track and pursue anyone attempting to appoint or nominate a successor, adding that those participating in meetings aimed at selecting a new Supreme Leader for Iran would be considered targets.

The statements mark one of Israel’s most direct threats toward Iran’s political leadership structure, suggesting a possible expansion of its campaign beyond military infrastructure to individuals involved in Iran’s top leadership succession process.

The statements also come amid escalating military tensions between Israel and Iran across the region. Israeli media reported that military assessments indicate the ongoing operation against Iran could take weeks to complete.

According to the reports, Israeli military officials believe that achieving the objectives of the campaign may require a prolonged operation, reflecting the scale of the confrontation between the two regional rivals.
