Israel has revoked the diplomatic credentials of eight Norwegian diplomats stationed in Tel Aviv due to their prior engagements with the Palestinian Authority.
This action is part of a broader response by Israel to recent moves by Norway that the Israeli government views as unilateral and hostile.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited Norway's recognition of a Palestinian state and recent critical remarks by senior Norwegian officials as key factors in its decision.
As a result, the Norwegian ambassador was informed that the diplomats' credentials would be revoked within seven days, and their visas would expire in three months.
Although Israel has offered the diplomats the opportunity to apply for new accreditation, this decision underscores the growing diplomatic tension between the two countries.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz expressed that there would be consequences for what Israel perceives as anti-Israel actions.
He criticized Norway for its approach following the October 7 attacks, accusing the country of siding against Israel instead of supporting its efforts against what he described as the Iranian axis of evil.
He also condemned Norway's involvement in a legal case against Israel at the International Criminal Court, viewing it as part of a broader unilateral policy on the Palestinian issue.
