The Israel Defense Forces said it had detected the launch of around 50 rockets from Lebanon since midnight, marking a significant escalation along the northern border.
According to Israeli military radio, approximately 15 rockets were fired toward the vicinity of Safed, with most of them landing in open areas and no immediate reports of casualties.
Israeli media later reported that Hezbollah had launched nearly 100 rockets targeting northern Israeli towns since the morning hours, in one of the heaviest barrages in recent weeks.
The attacks come amid heightened tensions between Israel and armed groups in southern Lebanon, raising concerns over a broader escalation along the frontier.
Israeli authorities did not immediately provide details on damage or injuries, while air raid sirens were reported in several northern communities as residents sought shelter.
The developments follow ongoing cross-border exchanges that have intensified in recent months, with fears mounting over the risk of a wider regional conflict.
