The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel is prepared to continue ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, contingent on the response of mediators to a U.S.-backed proposal.

The proposal involves the release of 11 living hostages and the remains of several others.

Netanyahu has instructed the Israeli negotiating team to prepare for further discussions based on the mediators’ feedback on the U.S. plan, referred to as the "Witkoff proposal." The statement signals a potential step toward renewed diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The negotiations, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, have faced multiple setbacks, with both Israel and Hamas maintaining firm positions on key demands. While Israel insists on the release of hostages as a priority, Hamas has called for a permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

International pressure has been mounting for a truce, especially amid worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza. The coming days are expected to be critical in determining whether the ceasefire talks can progress toward a lasting agreement.
