The office of Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that the Israeli prime minister had issued directives to target senior figures within the Iranian leadership, according to Alqahera News.
Israeli media outlets further reported that Netanyahu had approved the implementation of assassination operations inside Iran, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two countries.
After that, Israel’s defense minister announced the killing of Ali Larijani, who served as secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. The claim, if confirmed, would represent one of the highest-profile assassinations of an Iranian official in recent years.
There has been no immediate confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding Larijani’s reported killing. Tehran has previously warned that any direct targeting of its senior leadership would trigger a strong and immediate response.
The reported actions come amid intensifying regional tensions and an ongoing cycle of retaliatory strikes, raising concerns among international observers about the risk of a broader conflict in the Middle East.
