An Israeli parliamentarian called for the arrest of opposition leader Yair Lapid and former Defense Minister Benny Gantz, in response to calls for civil disobedience that his colleague in the Knesset called for earlier, considering such a call to be treason.

On Tuesday evening, the Hebrew Channel 13 quoted Zvika Fogel, a member of the Israeli Knesset for the party of the Minister of Internal Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, as calling for the arrest of both Gantz and Lapid, on the pretext of inciting rebellion.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted Fogel, an officer in the Israeli army reserve with the rank of brigadier general, as saying that Gantz and Lapid, along with others, including the former Minister of Internal Security, General Moshe Ya'alon, incite people to rebellion, and demand that people take to the streets.

Fogel made it clear in a series of his statements that such a call for rebellion and disobedience against the government of Benjamin Netanyahu is tantamount to "treason", which is a sufficient reason for the arrest of those, especially Lapid, the former prime minister, and Gantz, the former defense minister in his government.

Zivka Fogel had warned Netanyahu that he was running a civil war in Israel by threatening the cohesion and strength of Israeli society, noting that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, was on his way, causing an earthquake in the country.
