Israel’s cabinet has granted preliminary approval for an international stabilisation force and a Peace Council to operate in the Gaza Strip, according to Hebrew-language media reports.
The reports said the two bodies would work in coordination with the Israeli military inside Gaza.
Israel would retain the authority to approve which countries are permitted to contribute personnel to the international force, the reports added.
No details were provided about the proposed force’s mandate, size, deployment timetable or participating countries.
