A UN report stated that residents of five collective shelters in southern Lebanon were forced to evacuate in response to orders from the Israeli army. These orders, coupled with ongoing hostilities, are causing further loss of life and displacement, according to the UN spokesperson's office.
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN, added that the scope and uncertainty surrounding these orders make safe compliance virtually impossible, noting that they constitute a violation of international humanitarian law.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that the humanitarian response could be disrupted without immediate funding, following an additional urgent appeal launched last week.
