The commander of the Israeli Air Force, General Amikam Norkin, said today, Thursday, that it will not be long before holding joint exercises between the air forces in the Gulf and Israel, which will enhance regional stability.
He added that "a year ago, the Israeli Air Force conducted exercises in Greece with its counterpart of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
He believed that the deal to sell US-made F-35 fighters to the UAE will affect the scene, but it is not unlikely that we will witness military maneuvers with the Gulf states soon."
"The Middle East (ME) is a very explosive region, but we will not accept the presence of Iranian capabilities on the borders, and we will not accept the presence of accurate missile capabilities in Lebanon," he said.
He went on to say that Israel wants to maintain its military superiority, and maintain efficiency of pilots and keep the superiority of defense industries.
Regarding the absence of a budget for the Israeli army, he said: "We are consuming fuel, spare parts, and bombs."
The matter has become complicated. There is a burden on the military commanders to manage this matter in the absence of a budget for the coming years.
On the other hand, the Israeli army (known also as IDF) admitted that it had carried out 50 raids on targets deep in Syria in 2020.
In its security statements for the year ending at midnight, the Israeli army confirmed that, in addition to those raids, it had carried out 20 specific operations, especially at the borders of Lebanon and Syria, as well as thwarting two attempts by the Lebanese Hezbollah to carry out operations at the borders of Lebanon.
The IDF said its forces managed to disrupt another attempt by a cell of "Hezbollah" to carry out an operation on the Syrian border, in addition to discovering and thwarting the effect of two fields of explosive devices at the border with Syria.
