In response to escalating tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, Israeli authorities have ordered the closure of all schools in northern regions close to the Lebanese border.
The decision follows a series of rocket attacks launched by Hezbollah early Sunday morning.
Israel’s Home Front Command announced that schools and other educational institutions in the affected areas would remain closed until at least 6 p.m. on Monday.
This precautionary measure is aimed at ensuring the safety of students and staff amid the ongoing conflict.
Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, claimed responsibility for targeting the Ramat David Airbase and military facilities of Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, a company specializing in military technologies.
The attacks were part of Hezbollah’s broader effort to support Palestinian forces in Gaza.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas, which erupted on October 7 following a large-scale attack on southern Israel by the Palestinian militant group, has now extended to Israel’s northern front.
Hezbollah has pledged to continue its strikes against Israel until it agrees to a ceasefire in Gaza, where the ongoing war has taken a heavy toll.
Meanwhile, Israel is demanding that Hezbollah cease its attacks and withdraw its fighters from the border region, in line with the 2006 United Nations resolution that called for peace along the Israel-Lebanon frontier.
