Israel has warned residents of southern Lebanon not to return to 59 villages, renewing restrictions despite a recently extended ceasefire.

The Israeli military urged civilians to avoid areas south of key lines, including zones near the Litani River and nearby valleys, as tensions continue to rise. The warning came alongside fresh escalation, with artillery shelling reported in Houla and a powerful explosion heard in Khiam, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.

Israeli drones were seen flying at low altitude over Beirut’s southern suburbs, as well as Baalbek and surrounding areas.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said four people were killed in two Israeli strikes targeting a truck and a motorcycle in the Nabatieh district.

The developments come despite US President Donald Trump announcing a three-week extension of the ceasefire following talks between Lebanese and Israeli representatives.

Analysts say the situation in southern Lebanon has become increasingly dire, with more than 23 border towns evacuated and heavily damaged. Most residents have fled north of the Litani River, while a small number remain under constant threat.

Experts warn the crisis could widen, as strikes continue to hit infrastructure, raising concerns over supply disruptions and worsening humanitarian conditions.
