The official spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the Arab League confirmed that Palestinian authorities informed the General Secretariat of Israel's refusal to allow the scheduled visit of Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy to the occupied Palestinian territories today, Wednesday, July 8.

The visit was intended to support the resilience of the Palestinian people and to hold a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The spokesperson explained that the Secretary-General’s choice of the occupied Palestinian territories as his very first official foreign destination reflects the centrality of the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that it will remain at the top of Arab joint action priorities.

He added that Palestinians face a blockade within their cities and villages, living under the expansion of settlements and the roads that serve them.

Furthermore, they are subjected to violent practices by extremist settlers, many of whom enjoy protection from the occupation authorities.

The official spokesperson stressed the urgent need to hold Israel accountable for its continuous violations against the Palestinian people, affirming that defending the two-state solution requires effective and sustainable actions to ensure the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
