General Aharon Haliva, head of the Israeli Military Intelligence Division "AMAN", admitted Tuesday the intelligence failure that led to the sudden attack by Hamas on the settlements surrounding Gaza, in what is known as "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood," Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported.
General Aharon Haliva noted that at the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza, in what is known as Operation Iron Swords, Israel recorded a major intelligence failure in predicting the attack launched by the Hamas movement.
Haliva explained that the Military Intelligence Command failed in its most important mission and that by his position as head of that Israeli division, he bears full responsibility for this failure.
On Monday, the head of the Israeli Shin Bet (Israel's interior security agency), Ronen Bar, also admitted by his position, the failure of his agency to issue warnings that could have thwarted the Hamas attack, which took place on the seventh of this month.
