The "Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI)" announced that its fighters targeted an American base at Erbil airport with a drone at dawn on Thursday.

The statement issued by the IRI said that the drone "directly hit its target," adding that the attack came "in response to the crimes committed by the enemy against our people in Gaza."

This attack comes the day after two attacks carried out by the IRI that targeted the American Harir military base.

American forces have been subjected to about 70 attacks since October 17 (32 attacks in Iraq and 34 in Syria), resulting in the injury of 62 American soldiers, according to the Pentagon.

Pentagon officials said they were frustrated by the escalation of attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria, according to the Washington Post.

It is worth noting that about 2,500 American soldiers are stationed in Iraq and about 900 soldiers in Syria.
