The US authorities have disposed of the remains of killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi by burying them at sea, according to a Pentagon official.
“Baghdadi's burial at sea came according to Islamic religious rituals in an unnamed place,” the official added.
Earlier on Monday, the US military's chief of staff Mark Millie, announced that the Pentagon has no plans to release photos or videos of Baghdadi's death at this time.
"The disposal of his remains has been done, completed and handled appropriately," Milley added in press statements.
It is worthy to mention that, the remains of al-Baghdadi’s body were transferred to the US airbase in Iraq after he was killed, in a special security operation in the Syrian countryside of Idlib.
In 2011, al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was also buried in a similar way after being killed by US forces in a helicopter raid in Pakistan.
Al Baghdadi died in a US raid in northwestern Syria Saturday night, after igniting his suicide belt, killing himself, his two wives and 3 children.
Moreover, at least 2 ISIS militants were captured and 11 children were taken into custody by U.S. troops.
After the success of the operation, US President Donald Trump announced the death of ISIS leader.
