ISESCO Sec. Gen., Egypt’s Amb. to Morocco Discuss Cooperation

Secretary-general of Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Salem bin Mohamed Al Malek received on Tuesday, Egypt's Ambassador to Morocco Ashraf Ibrahim.

The meeting tackled ways to promote bilateral cooperation between both sides, as well as the choice of Cairo as the capital of Islamic culture for 2020.

During the meeting, al-Malek revealed that a great celebration will be held to mark this event.

“The celebration should befit Egypt’s capital historic status and its rich archaeological sites, institutions and cultural events,” al-Malek stressed.

The meeting also discussed ways to deepen ties between both sides via various ways including, registering the largest number of Egyptian archaeological and historic monuments on the Islamic world heritage list, as well as organizing seminars and lectures on the cultural, educational, environmental and science fields, and other areas.

Moreover, they reviewed a number of proposed ideas for activities and programs that will be implemented throughout 2020.

In addition, the two sides agreed, during the meeting, to form a joint committee from ISESCO and the concerned Egyptian authorities, to start implementing those programs and activities.

The committee is set to meet in Cairo early February to put the final touches to “Cairo.. Capital of Islamic culture” event.
